Character is how one acts when no one is looking.

The process to make quality concrete sand starts with our pit. We start with a quality natural raw material in the ground. Some concrete sand producers have to add a crushed rock bi-product, also referred to as "man sand", to mix with their natural sand because their natural sand is too fine to get the coarseness required in the finished product.

We have quality natural raw material from the ground, the fillers are not necessary. Our "all natural" concrete sand gives superior strength and a more professional finish than the concrete sand that has "man-sand" added. N-TEX is one of the few sand and gravel companies in the Dallas area that can offer "all natural" concrete sand and sand products.

The Process

First, we load our high-quality sand directly from our pit into our haul trucks to deliver to the plant for processing.

We haul the all-natural, high-quality sand from the pit to our processing center with the haul trucks where it is put into a 40yd hopper and a conveyor belt takes it to the shaker.

Second, the rock and pea gravel are sized and put into a washer and cleaned together then re-sorted by size. The washed rock is 7/16″ to 1.25″ and is used for gravel roads and drive ways.

Third, the pea gravel, 7/16" to 3/8", is used to make several products from play grounds to asphalt, or shot-crete for swimming pools to exposed aggregate sidewalks and driveways.

At the shaker our product is sorted into 6 different products, 5 of which we sell.

First, the raw sand is placed on the conveyor. The dirt, clay and large rocks are sorted out and removed from processing. This dirt and clay is unsaleable.

Fourth, everything that is smaller than 3/8” goes into a set of sand screws to make concrete sand. The coarse sand sinks to the bottom and the fine sand floats out and into a second set of sand screws to make mason sand. Concrete sand is used to make roads and buildings.

Fifth, mason sand is made from the fine sand that floats out of the concrete sand. Mason sand is used to make the mortar necessary for laying bricks.

The respective products are loaded into trucks with a wheel loader, then weighed on a set of scales and sent to the final destination for processing for whatever product the sand will be used for.

With the use of a ‘top-off-hopper’, we fill every truck to maximum capacity to ensure cost-efficient hauling for our customers.

Every truck can see exactly what their total weight is as their tuck in being topped off. This picture is the driver’s view from sitting on the scales.
